Barnsley in Depth Children’s and Young People’s Report – 2008/09 InformationTen Children and Young People’s Wellbeing Partnerships/Teams have beendeveloped and each have an established Leadership Group who are leadingon the development of a locality plan that outlines key priorities for the locality.By 2012 there will be nine Advanced Learning Centre (ALC) and clusters ofprimary learning centres and children centres. The aim is to build integrated,joined up, multi-disciplinary teams and services linking into these and otherlocally based community facilities. These will be fully supportive of all children,young people and families, and delivered at a local level wherever possible.- 11 -
Barnsley in Depth Children’s and Young People’s Report – 2008/09 Information2 Geography, Population & Deprivation2.1 GeographyBarnsley Metropolitan Borough is one of the four districts in the county ofSouth Yorkshire, lying about 15 miles North of Sheffield and 20 miles South ofLeeds. The Borough covers a diverse area stretching 24 miles from thePennines in the west to the Dearne Valley lowlands in the East.
