24 Assembling and Maintaining Elliptical Fitness Crosstrainers: EFX 883 / 833 / 823To mount the center column support on the frame:Note: Check that the base fasteners are loose beforeinstalling the fasteners for the central column support.1. Have your assistant support the center column supportwhile you align the inside mounting brackets with theupright supports.2. Fasten the center column support to each upright supportby threading a buttonhead screw, a ⁵₁₆-inch washer, and asplit washer through opposite mounting holes.Figure 8: Rear view of console attachmentImportant: When wrench-tightening the screws, make surethe head of the fastener is parallel to the product surface. If itis not, stop tightening to avoid cross-threading. To avoidfurther damage, stop assembly work and contact CustomerSupport.
Assembling the EFX 253. Check alignments and thread the remaining four centercolumn support screws, four ⁵₁₆-inch washers, and foursplit washers. Tighten with a ³₁₆-inch hex key so theassemblies come together, but leave room foradjustments.Figure 9: Attachment of center column supportTo tighten the fasteners properly:CAUTION: Upright support fasteners must be properly alignedand wrench-tightened in the order described below. If improperlyassembled, the upright supports can rub against the ramp.1. Fully tighten the two sets of fasteners on the back of thecenter column support.Figure 10: Fastener attachment detail
