ALBANIAN MEDICAL JOURNAL SUPPLEMENTA new ethos: Clinical psychology in the context ofthe Albanian Public HealthSuela Ndoja 11Italian Albanian Association.For the last two years, I have been involved inefforts to develop and evaluate information-basedand value-based systems of social care for childrenand young people with serious mental and healthchallenges. Having received my scientific studies inclinical psychology in 2010, this effort to work withthese persons introduced me with theimplementation of an effective system of social andhealth care as an important part of a multidisciplinaryeffort to enhance the social andemotional well-being of children and youngindividuals. This approach has really attracted me toexpand on the competencies and knowledge that Ihave gained through my studies. Thus, I do mind acall for a new ethos not to diminish the contributionthat clinical psychology has made. It is to indicatethat the contribution of clinical psychology shouldaddress social needs in the context of Public Health.Therefore, the aim would be to suggest a valuebasedsystem of care to Mental Health Services asan important movement for clinical psychology inthe context of the Albanian Public Health addressingthe society needs including non-communicablediseases, too. This, I suggest to be one of the mostsuitable keys to clinical psychologists understandingthe clinical practice in the core definition of theprofessions competencies.
