Chapter 11: FileTableFurthermore, it's also not possible to create a FileTable in the tempdb database or createa FileTable as a temporary table (which is expected, based on the first restriction, astemporary tables are created in tempdb). That restriction also applies to FILESTREAM ingeneral, as it's not possible to modify tempdb to add a FILESTREAM filegroup.Accessing a FileTable with Windows Explorer andOther Client ApplicationsOnce you have created a FileTable, it is ready for use. If you intend to use your FileTableto store data used by an application that is not FILESTREAM-aware (i.e. the applicationwill not be modified to support transactional access to the files), you do not need to takeany further action.By way of example, let's create a new file and folder and examine the effect in SQL Server.Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the file share where your FileTable is located. If youfollowed the example from Listings 11-8 and 11-10, this will be your path name:\\localhost\MSSQLSERVER\NorthPole\DocumentsAlternatively, you can also right-click on the FileTable in SSMS and choose theExplore FileTable Directory from the shortcut menu.Creating filesAt this time, the folder should be empty. Right-click the right pane and selectNew | Text Document. Provide a filename for the new file, such as Letter.txtand confirm.411
