Appendix A: Configuring FILESTREAM on a SQL Server InstanceEnabling and configuring FILESTREAM from thecommand lineSometimes, we need to enable and configure FILESTREAM using the command line, forexample as part of the installation or upgrade of an application that intends to use theFILESTREAM features. It is quite easy to set the FILESTREAM access level by using SQLServer command line tools like sqlcmd.exe.However, programmatically enabling the FILESTREAM feature is more complicated usinga scripting language like VBScript. Luckily, a short VBScript is available for download atcodeplex.com: http://brurl.com/fs26.Listing A-6 shows the syntax for running that script.cscript filestream_enable.vbs[/Machine:MachineName][/Instance:InstanceName][/Level:level][/Share:ShareName]Listing A-6:Syntax for running VBScript program to enable FILESTREAM.Some debug messages are displayed; we can safely ignore these.
