the Oil and Grease Traps where the oil and grease is removed from the Effluent.The Effluent free from Grit, Oil and Grease enter the collection sumps.(Equalization sump).b. TreatmentThe Effluent from the collection sumps is pumped into the Aeration tank workingon the principle of diffused aeration with the help of Fine Bubble Jet diffusers.From Aeration Tank, the flow is led to Plate Settlers. The settled sludge from thesettling tank is drawn by Non-Clog pumps and taken back to aeration tanks formaintaining the required MLSS and surplus sludge is led to sludge concentrationunit. The sludge concentration process is activated with the help of PolymersDosing. Concentrated sludge is disposed off for offsite solid disposal treatment.The effluent from the sludge concentration unit is taken back to Aeration tank forfurther treatment. The clarified liquid is withdrawn over weir into the launder andfrom launder it is taken to chlorine contact chamber where it is disinfected withthe help of hypochlorite solution. The disinfected effluent from the chlorinecontact chamber is pumped through Multi-grade Filter and finally throughActivated Carbon filter for Gardening/ Horticulture. Part of this disinfected effluentis taken to Mild Steel/RCC/HDPE tank provided for storage of wash water. Fromthe wash water tank, the water is pumped back to Pressure Filter for periodicback washing with the help of both pumps working at a time. The wash out letand drain of Pressure filter is led back to aeration tank for further treatment.c. Disposal:The treated water will get utilized in horticulture, DG cooling, external green beltdevelopment and site maintenance purpose. The surplus water will be dischargedinto external drain.Storm Water Management:As discussed earlier, most of the storm water produced on site will be harvested forground water recharge, thus proper management of this resource is must to ensure thatit is free of contamination. Contamination of storm water is possible from the followingsources: Oil spills and leaks in vehicle parking lots Silt from soil erosion in gardensA detailed “Storm Water Management Plan” will be developed which will consider theabove sources. Regular inspection and cleaning of storm drains. Clarifiers or oil/water separators shall be installed in all the parking areas.Oil/water separators installed for parking areas and garages will be sized according topeak flow guidelines. Both clarifiers and oil/water separators must be periodicallypumped in order to keep discharges within limits.Cover waste storage areas.Avoid application of pesticides and herbicides before wet seasonSecondary containment and dykes in fuel/oil storage facilitiesConducting routine inspections to ensure cleanlinessPreparation of spill response plans, particularly for fuel and oil storage areas.Provision of slit traps in storm water drainsGood housekeeping in the above areas.EMP for Land Environmenta. Solid Wastes:Mainly domestic and landscape waste will be generated from the Hospital complexduring its operational period. It is estimated that at about 1506.25 kg per day ofmunicipal solid waste will be generated from the Hospital complex during theoperation, which includes waste generated by the floating and working population,hospital, canteen, quarters.Twin bin waste collection system will be used within the complex – green bins forbio-degradable wastes and blue bins for non-biodegradable wastes shall beprovided for segregation of wastes.Sale of recyclable waste like news papers, cartoon, bottles, canes etc. torecycling industry.Composting of biodegradable organic wastes including horticultural waste at theproject site for its captive use for horticulture, which will convert biodegradableorganic waste into manure.
