EBP <strong>in</strong> <strong>Foster</strong> <strong>Parent</strong> Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> <strong>Support</strong><strong>in</strong>dividual brief consultations (or <strong>in</strong> large-group parent<strong>in</strong>g sem<strong>in</strong>ars); Level 3 requires up to fourbrief 20-m<strong>in</strong>ute weekly consultation sessions; Level 4 requires eight to 10 weekly sessions; <strong>and</strong>Level 5 requires on average an additional 3 weekly sessions per family.PPP is rated as an effective practice <strong>and</strong> has been associated with reduced foster parentstress, <strong>and</strong> improvements <strong>in</strong> foster parent confidence <strong>and</strong> parent<strong>in</strong>g skills (Bor, S<strong>and</strong>ers, &Markie-Dadds, 2002; Leung, S<strong>and</strong>ers, Leung, Mak, & Lau, 2003; Mart<strong>in</strong> & S<strong>and</strong>ers, 2003;Roberts, Mazzucchelli, Studman, & S<strong>and</strong>ers, 2006; Turner, Richards, & S<strong>and</strong>ers, 2007; <strong>and</strong>Zubrick et al., 2005). PPP is also associated with improvements <strong>in</strong> foster child behavior (Bor etal., 2002; Leung et al., 2003; Mart<strong>in</strong> & S<strong>and</strong>ers, 2003; Roberts et al., 2006; S<strong>and</strong>ers, Bor, &Morawska, 2007; S<strong>and</strong>ers, Markie-Dadds, Tully, & Bor, 2000; Turner et al., 2007; <strong>and</strong> Zubricket al., 2005). PPP addresses conduct problems, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorders, feed<strong>in</strong>gproblems, <strong>and</strong> pa<strong>in</strong> syndromes; this tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g may be beneficial for TFC foster parents.Teach<strong>in</strong>g Family ModelTFM uses “teach<strong>in</strong>g parents” to offer a family-like environment <strong>in</strong> the residence <strong>and</strong> ischaracterized by clearly def<strong>in</strong>ed goals, <strong>in</strong>tegrated support systems, <strong>and</strong> a set of essential elements(Kirg<strong>in</strong>, 1996). The teach<strong>in</strong>g parents help with learn<strong>in</strong>g liv<strong>in</strong>g skills <strong>and</strong> positive <strong>in</strong>terpersonal<strong>in</strong>teraction skills. They are also <strong>in</strong>volved with children’s parents, teachers, <strong>and</strong> other supportnetwork to help ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong> progress.
