Single residences have one dwelling; multiple residences, between 2 and 10–15 dwellings (theprecise number of rooms or residential structures was not always evident); and residential complexes,more than 10–15 dwellings. Because roomblocks were coded for anywhere between two and severalhundred rooms, the original documentation of all sites with roomblocks was checked before theclassification was finalized. In the few cases where the size of the roomblock was not indicated, thecomponents were designated as multiple residences. Components with other types of features wereclassified as artifact scatters with features unless the absence of artifacts was explicitly noted (i.e., totalartifacts = 0). Those components were classified as simple features. Lastly, components with noassociated features were classified as artifact scatters.3-5
