Alsacia:
Un tesoro en el corazón de Europa
Alsace: A treasure in the heart of Europe
Por/By: Denise Rostan
It is a region of France located northeast of the country,
on the border with Germany and Switzerland; its
capital is Strasbourg. This region was the object of
continuous disputes between France and Germany,
which is why at times it belonged to Germany and at
times it belonged to France.
Since the Second World War, Alsace belongs to France
and covers an area of 8280 km2, much of which
is covered by the great forest of the Vosges whose
continuation in Germany is the Black Forest; also,
it has large tracts planted with vineyards. Its wines
and vineyards are a precious treasure that can be
discovered along the famous Alsace Wine Route. This
is the smallest region of France, it is 190 km long and
50 km wide, and its entire area is full of touristic sites
to be discovered.
It is also recognized as one of the most prosperous and
dynamic regions of France, its geographic location
positions it at the core of the European economy, being
an area of intense economic and industrial exchange.
Due to the short distances and site characteristic, it’s ideal
to travel by car to know Alsace, preferably by local roads,
which are in perfect condition and have great signaling,
they can be narrow and some only have one lane.
