NC State Chinese New <strong>Year</strong> Celebration<br />

and Musical Performance<br />

On the afternoon of February 15th, at the new NC State Talley Student Union, the Confucius<br />

Institute hosted over 200 people for the <strong>2015</strong> Chinese New <strong>Year</strong> Celebration and Chinese Music<br />

Performance. The event brought together current partners of CI and those interested in learning<br />

more about our programs. We had a Lion Dance Performance by the NC State Lion Dance Club and<br />

Chinese New <strong>Year</strong> musical performances by the NC- RTP Chinese Music Instruments Ensemble. We<br />

had special welcome remarks from: NC State University Provost, Warwick Arden, the Honorable,<br />

Elaine Marshall, North Carolina Secretary of State, Representative Paul Stam, Speaker Pro Tempore<br />

<strong>2015</strong>-2016 Session member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state’s 37th<br />

House district, including constituents in Wake County, Councilman Steve Rao, At-Large Councilman<br />

for the Town of Morrisville, Dr. Yvonne Coston, Provost, Saint Augustine’s University, Confucius<br />

Classroom of NC State Confucius Institute, and Aileen Daily, Cary Academy Student, Confucius<br />

Institute student and participant in High School Trip to China. We had special sheep balloon<br />

decorations, our Panda “Bao-Bao”, and photo sessions trying on Chinese clothes for our guests to<br />

enjoy Chinese New <strong>Year</strong>.
