Diversity Day at Talley Student Union
On September 10th, in celebration of the
opening of the new Talley Student Union, we
celebrated Diversity Day, one of the week’s many
activities. Our CI participated in this day-long event
with a Chinese Cultural Exhibition and participated in
the Office of International Affairs Open House. This
activity helped faculty, staff and students, learn more
about our CI programs and a deeper understanding
of Chinese culture. For our cultural exhibition the CI
translated the keywords of the event into Chinese:
Tradition, Diversity, Respect, Leadership and Service,
and wrote them in calligraphy on Chinese lanterns.
The Chinese calligraphy, attracted many people to
line up to try the magic of writing Chinese characters.
The CI panda mascot “Bao-Bao” was very popular
as many people wanted their picture with him. We
also had Chinese traditional costumes for people to
try on and “Chopsticks” giveaways. In the afternoon,
the Office of International Affairs had an Open House
to showcase the different international offices on
campus, the CI being one of the eight different offices.
The CI has a Chinese language and culture display in
the Talley Student Union, at the Cultural Hearth, an
area designated to showcase NC State’s International
culture. Our display will be up for a few month so the
entire student body can be exposed to the growth of
CI and its contribution to the community.
9 月 10 日 , 美 国 北 卡 罗 莱 纳 州 立 大 学
泰 利 学 生 活 动 中 心 举 办 了 盛 大 的 落 成 典 礼 。
州 大 孔 子 学 院 代 表 州 大 国 际 事 务 办 公 室 参 与
了 当 天 的 “ 多 元 文 化 日 ” 展 示 活 动 。 这 次 文 化
展 示 活 动 使 州 大 教 师 、 学 生 以 及 员 工 对 孔 院
及 孔 院 开 展 的 各 个 项 目 有 了 更 深 的 了 解 。
为 了 契 合 “ 多 元 文 化 日 ” 的 主 题 , 孔
子 学 院 提 出 了 五 个 关 键 词 : 传 统 、 多 元 、 尊
重 、 领 导 力 和 奉 献 。 在 活 动 现 场 , 孔 院 老 师
把 这 五 个 关 键 词 题 写 在 五 颜 六 色 的 灯 笼 上 并
赠 予 学 生 。 老 师 们 还 热 情 地 指 导 学 生 现 场 临
摹 这 五 个 关 键 词 。 五 彩 缤 纷 的 灯 笼 、 刚 健 有
力 的 汉 字 吸 引 了 众 多 外 国 学 生 和 老 师 , 展 台
前 排 起 了 长 龙 。 熊 猫 “ 抱 抱 ” 更 是 吸 引 了 师 生
们 纷 纷 与 之 合 影 留 念 。 孔 院 同 时 展 示 的 精 美
传 统 服 饰 也 吸 引 了 不 少 眼 球 , 人 们 纷 纷 试 穿
留 念 。
当 天 下 午 , 州 大 国 际 事 务 办 公 室 下
属 八 个 分 支 部 门 面 向 全 校 举 办 了 开 放 展 示 活
动 。 孔 院 作 为 下 属 部 门 之 一 在 泰 利 活 动 中 心
设 立 了 专 门 的 橱 窗 , 向 师 生 们 展 示 了 近 年 来
孔 院 的 发 展 成 长 以 及 为 州 大 及 社 区 做 出 的 杰
出 贡 献 , 赢 得 了 前 来 观 展 的 师 生 们 的 交 口 称
赞 。
