Games come to London. The activities in the park
also include research, arts-led collaborations,
education, publishing and events. These are being
developed within a large landscape, purpose-built
infrastructure and professional support.
Lessons learnt
• Green spaces can become part of an
innovative, arts-based regeneration
strategy. The park’s industrial heritage
has informed both its design and current
use as a place for experimentation
and testing
• Green space management authorities
should engage in arts and cultural events
• The experience at Gunpowder Park
shows that decision-makers and planners
need to engage with the wide range of
social and physical dimensions of open
space. With appropriate support and
infrastructure, green spaces can be used
as a test bed to develop an understanding
of what works.
Buildings and landscape have
become one interconnected
feature within the park
