ucan fidgeted with his tie while he waited for Imani to get ready.
LThe days had flown by and before they knew it, the day of the
award ceremony had come. All over the media, the buzz had
been high. Regular Interfacer broadcasts had kept coming and
voting had reached a fevered pitch towards the closing hours of the polls.
Now, the moment they had been waiting for was here.
The sound of the door opening brought Lucan out of his thoughts and he
looked in that direction. Standing in the doorway, looking like someone who
had stepped out of a beautiful painting, was the woman he loved. All other
thoughts flew out of his mind in that instant. He was transfixed by the vision of
her beauty. She took each step with grace and elegance, seeming to float
through the air towards him. He was not aware that his mouth had opened until
she reached him and laughingly closed it.
“Was it worth the wait?” she asked.
“Oh, I'd wait a thousand years, if necessary, to behold thy fair form, thou fairest
of all.” He was laughing and bowing.
“Lucan, I'm nervous,” Imani said with seriousness.
He held her hands with one hand and put the other around her shoulder. “Don't
be dear. I'll be by your side every step today, ok?” He planted a kiss on her
cheek and then whispered into her ear in the same breath, “You'll be
wonderful.”
