Guardians of the Seal
covered it. The flames bounced harmlessly off the wings.
Luckily, Lucan had bought himself time to get on his feet. When the wings
unfurled, the demon opened his mouth and out of it flowed a stream of hot
lava. Lucan sent out a stream of liquid light out to counter it with a swish of his
sword.
But he was already weakening from the hits and lengthy fighting. Soon, the
lava began to overpower the light. The stream of lava began to push the river
of light back and inch by inch, it gained ground until the light occupied just a
small circle inside which Lucan stood. The lava kept pushing, and the beast
kept looking at Lucan through eyes that smouldered like live coals.
Lucan summoned all the energy left in him and cried at the top of his voice,
“Have dominion, Euphrates!” The river of light burst forth from him again and
menacingly towards Lucan, swinging his huge sword. When he got to Lucan,
he stood over him and boasted. “You thought you could beat me a second
time, you arrogant fool. Your naiveté will cost you everything you wanted to
defend. Your woman will be found and when she is, we will usher her
unbelieving self into our realm. You will lose your life and seal to us. You will
lose everything, human. Now prepare to meet your end.”
Nimrod clasped his sword in both hands and raised it above his head. With
a mighty roar, he began to swing the sword down. Lucan closed his eyes,
resigning to his fate and defeat. He waited for the sword's impact to finish it all.
It would hit him any moment now.
But the moment passed and there was no impact. Had the impact been so
great that he hadn't felt it before dying and passing on to the next life? He
ventured to open his eyes to see what was happening. The sword was less
