Tunde Leye 71
“You seem very pleased with yourself ”, Tara said to Lamela as they
rode in the back of her bulletproof sedan on the way to The Place.
Lamela smiled. Of course she was. She had outfoxed Iblis finally, had
Tara where she needed her, saved her own skin from punishment in the
Neatherworld, gotten rid of Maxwell and topped it all with a promotion.
To Tara, she said “I'm simply pleased to have helped another woman see
the light”.
“You know, I used to wonder why my mother never left my father in
spite of how bad he treated her. And then why she prevented me from
leaving home when I tried to. I despised her. Yet I became like her, staying
on, no matter how horribly Maxwell treated me.” Tara responded.
“No, you are nothing like her. Look at you. You survived him and are
taking action to rid the world of their evil. You, my dear, are as far from
your mother as can be.”
“I survived thanks to you, Lamela. And even this chance to do
something about men, it is you that is giving it to me. I'm very indebted to
you.”
Lamela looked up. She could see the shape of the demon Nimrod had
assigned to follow and monitor them hovering above the car. This
conversation was for its benefit. It would later report to Nimrod that the
woman was totally under her control and it was out of her own freewill.
They continued the rest of the drive in silence. Tara noted that the
compound felt like a maximum security prison. Lamela read her mind.
