Guardians of the Seal
swords. Cherubim archers bearing golden bows and arrows. Two-winged
angels with all manners of weapons. And in a single file in the front row, all the
generations of the Guardians of the Seals; from Jacob, all the way down to
Eldad, Benzahr and Lex, took position. They bore weapons that had been
theirs during their earthly existence. A bright splendour emanated from the
whole host, directly contrasting the seething, thick darkness oozing out from
the invading mass of demons that stood before them.
Lucifer turned and addressed his demons. “This is the time we have been
waiting for. Brace yourselves and forget all the former defeats. We will
overcome and rule this place. Unlimited power awaits those that fight valiantly.
Eternal torment awaits the cowardly. We will not retreat. We will not be
defeated. Remember, one of you here will partake of the Tree of Almightiness
with me. Fight to be that one!”
The demons let out a great shout.
“Let's give them hell!” Lucifer thundered.
Shouts of “give them hell, give them hell” erupted from the demons. Riding on
the momentum of their cries, they charged forward.
Lucan stood helpless before the open portal, pinned to the spot by Lucifer's
chains. His mind was filled with all sorts of imaginations of the battle he was
sure he had ignited now that Lucifer had gone up into Heaven. Suddenly, he
heard Imani's voice calling his name. He waved it aside. His mind must be
playing tricks on him, especially now that he was on the precipice of
unconsciousness. Delirium was setting in. Then he saw a flash of light, and his
chains fell off. He collapsed to the ground, drained of all his strength,
immobile. Someone rushed to his side and helped him off the floor, calling his
name over and over again. When he opened his eyes, he saw the face he had
longed for in the last couple of hours, the face he had thought was lost to him
forever. “Imani,” he said, touching her on the cheek. “It's really you. Am I
dreaming? Or maybe I have died and I'm now in Heaven?”
“I'm here Lucan, I'm really here, in flesh and blood,” Imani responded.
