the move again.” Nimrod wanted to continue, but something in the slight<br />
movement of Lucifer's eyes told him to stop. He was rolling it in his mind.<br />
After a short pause, Lucifer spoke. “We need to confirm this. If indeed it is<br />
true, then the woman has become significantly more important.” He<br />
turned to the demons before him. “You get out of my sight now!” Then he<br />
turned to Nimrod. “Get the Seers to the location of her escape. If indeed<br />
there was anything divine that used its powers there, I need this<br />
confirmed quickly.” With that, he waved his scaly arm to dismiss his<br />
lieutenant and Nimrod slithered away. Iblis and his cohorts had been<br />
saved.<br />
Tara opened her eyes and the rest of her senses along with them.<br />
Sunlight streaked into the room from a high window and birdsong from<br />
outside came into her ears as the sleep cleared from her eyes. The bed she<br />
lay in was a large one, and she felt the softness of the mattress, something<br />
she had become unfamiliar with. She was dressed in a free-flowing silk<br />
gown with lace trimmings at the end. Her head was throbbing and when<br />
she tried to turn around so she could take in the details of where she was,<br />
pain shot through her being like a lightning bolt.<br />
Then it all came rushing back. The Place. Lamela. Her escape. The<br />
pursuit and how she had almost been caught. And then someone helped<br />
her. Now she wondered who that someone could be. What did the person<br />
want? What was the person even doing around The Place at that time and<br />
how had he dealt with her pursuers?<br />
“Ha!” she groaned. “Even thinking makes me want to cut this head<br />
off.” Her voice was surprisingly clear.<br />
“There are many who would love nothing more to happen,” came a<br />
deep, rich male voice from somewhere she guessed was the door of the<br />
