“Out of the east
Out of Eden
Four flow as one
One parts into four
Baruch, Baruch
Arise and flow.
Euphrates!”
Then he felt the familiar rush of his seal's fusion with him, transforming him
into his guardian state. But he was not done yet. He had all the seals and would
do something that had not been done since Jacob. He clasped his hands
together and continued. “Gihon!” he shouted. An unfamiliar energy flowed into
him. Yet he continued. “Pishon! Tigris!” He said those in quick succession. For
the first time in millennia, the four seals were fused with one person. The power
he had felt when he had only the Euphrates seal was nothing compared to
what he felt now. There was only one piece of the puzzle he didn't have yet. But
Lucan willed himself to unite with the keystone, just as it had been at the
beginning when Jacob possessed both the seals and the keystone. Closing
his eyes still, he visualised the keystone. “Take me to it,” he said softly.
When he opened his eyes, he found himself in an almond grove beside a
small river. There was an ancient stone altar there, and he recognised this as
Jacob's altar. He did not know which of the stones of the altar was the
keystone. They all looked exactly the same. “The guardian has come, reveal
yourself!” he commanded. There was a rumbling in the altar and suddenly, it
crumbled in one explosion. It was so sudden that Lucan could not get out of
the way in time. Where the altar had been, a stone sat. Gingerly, he reached
out to touch the stone, expecting it to explode like the altar did. There was
indeed an explosion, but it was not the stone that exploded. The burst of life
force that entered into Lucan as his fingers touched the stone nearly threw him
off balance. A column of light then rose from the stone into the sky. A stairway
spiralled away upwards and heaven opened up above him just as it had done
with Jacob, the first guardian on that fateful night.
