fish, while we give them fish, as well. We
want expand our activities throughout
the country. An international award
was given for our project. Global food
banking network has awarded our association
for innovation.
Actually, we have been working on this
project since 2015 in Maltepe, Istanbul.
The system is settled neatly.
Ezgi Ozkok: We opened Destek Market
in Bagcilar on 20th September.
There are other organizations that
seeks needy people, visit and support
them in the town, like social support
and cooperation foundation. The foundation
helps us to reach out the needy
people in their area; they lead people
who applied them for help to our organization.
Others, municipalities, other
NGOs and organizations are all helpful.
Do you work regionally? Is
there demand out of Bagcilar?
Ezgi Ozkok: Yes, we work regionally, because
we want to take part in activities
nearby. We want the people know us
a philanthropist organization as “our
Destek Market”, “our Tider”. There
are other goods and services out of
basic foods including toys for people,
playground, a social services expert,
a library, so, it became a social center
that people may spend time. According
to the data of Bagcilar governorship
100 thousand people lives in poverty. It
was 5 thousand in Maltepe. It will be so
good to reach out a hundred people
in Bagcilar.

What was the basic criterion
while deciding on Bagcilar?
The number of people living in poverty
was the major factor. Maltepe was a
pilot operation, where we have accomplished
our mission completely. Then
comes the Bagcilar.
