A memorandum of understanding has
been signed in Food Week Korea Fair
with Coex Fair Organizer to improve
bilateral relations between two countries
and increase exports.
Stating that Ministry of Economy
has organized a press promotion
and tasting event in South Korean
capital Seoul for Branding of Turkish
Products Abroad, Positioning Made
in Turkey Image within the scope of
TURQUALITY Support Program, Aegean
Exporters’ Association (AEA)

Tarakçıoğlu added that 5 exporters’
associations from AEA in food industry
have promoted products such as
dry figs, dry apricots, sultana, dried tomatoes,
olive oil, laurel leaves, oregano,
sage, pasta and bulgur in a successful
organization in Food Week Korea Fair.
Our goal of food export to
Japan and Korea is 1 billion
dollars
Expressing the historic friendship
between Turkey and South Korea,
Tarakçıoğlu said “They have great sympathy
for Turkey, Turkish people and
Turkish products. In 2016 South Korea
imported 21 billion dollars worth of
food. Turkey exports food worth 45
million dollars. With the TURQUALI-
TY project we will conduct for 2 years
aimed at South Korea we aim to increase
this export amount faster than
average export increase rate of Turkey.
Our greatest goal is to increase
the share of Japan and South Korea in
Turkey’s 2023 food export goal of 40
billion dollars, to 1 billion dollars”.
