However, the story doesn’t end
there as the next day we received a
phone call from the Take Your Pick
producers saying that the recording
had gone wrong and that Mother
was to return to Wembley Studios
to re-record her part, and remember
to show surprise when she won
the car! So, she did it all over again
and the programme was broadcast
within a few days.
I have often wondered what the
audience and contestants on the
original show thought when they
saw the new recording? A fix?
Although, it was only Mother’s part
of the show and her reaction they rerecorded
there must have been some
differences.
The Ford Popular was chauffeurdriven
to our home in Ladygate Lane,
Ruislip, on a Saturday morning, with
the press in attendance. It was such
an exciting experience for our family
winning that car. Nowadays one can
win the Lottery and nobody takes
much notice.
