Knowledge is very important for humans.
They always seek to acquire it through various
ways. Some of these ways are: images, visual
notes, and educational sketching which play a
significant and remarkable role in learning and the
teaching process.
There are many definitions for the educational
sketching depending on the type of the drawings
intended. In general, we can say that these
materials and visual linear symbols, which are
designed to summarize, represent, interpret and
express information in a scientific way, are used to
serve the teaching and learning process. Topics
that are difficult to understand or contain a lot of
text words make you feel bored and confused
when you read them.
Teachers can get a long-lasting benefit from
using sketches with their students in the
classroom. Vivid images and visual data cling in
their minds and are easy to remember more than a
long page full of words and phrases. Moreover,
teachers want their students to learn new
information, remember them, connect them to
previously learnt facts and apply them and this
can be done easily by Edu-sketching.
How can teachers use Edu-sketching in their
classroom?
First of all, teachers should know two facts; some
students can’t draw and others prefer using text
words and short sentences more than sketching.
However, teachers can solve this problem by
connecting the text to a sketch (icons and
symbols). For example, in elementary schools,
teachers can make children try to draw new words
and universal symbols such as the symbol of the
word “sea”, “ship”, and “sun”. This process builds
a good relationship between the teachers and their
students.
In conclusion, I think all teachers and parents
should see the gifts in the children’s minds to get
more knowledge and improve their skills. The
Edu-sketch is one of the best ways in the process
of teaching and learning. It can change the learner
from a receiver to a producer of a knowledge.
