2017 ANNUAL REPORT
The Penn & Tylers Green Residents
Society is a charity that undertakes its
activities, primarily on a voluntary basis,
and helps other non-profit organisations.
All member residents are welcome to be
involved so if you can give an hour or two
a month, or even occasionally to support
our activities please get in touch. If you are
a non-profit organisation or individual
with an idea or project that could benefit
a section of the local community please
contact us - we may be able to help...
Village Voice
We produced 6
editions of Village
Voice in 2017,
which is a real
team effort. To
produce our Village
magazine, we rely
on the support of
many people - from
communicating with
other village
collecting and creating copy, to designing and
editing the content, all the time thinking about
what would make an enjoyable and informative
read. Our philosophy and guiding pronciple for
what to include in VV is 'by the village, for the
village, of the village'. Our advertising team
liase with advertisers, and collect the income
from advertising- to fund the production of the
magazine. We have regular and occasional
contributors - including from our photographers.
Once the magazine has been printed, our
distribution manager sorts and delivers bundles
of VV to our deliverers, who turn out in all
weathers to bring VV to your homes. Without
the commitment, time and expertise of our team
we could not achieve the quality and
consistancy of VV production.
The Village Pre-school
The start of the school term back in September,
we welcomed a large intake of 2 year olds,
having seen many of our children leave in July
to start ‘big’ school. We have policies and
procedures in place to enable these very young
children to settle in easily and enjoy a
curriculum dedicated specifically to their age
group, and we’re happy to report, they are all
thriving. Our 30 hour per week setting is
working well and has proved to be very popular
with parents of the older children in preparation
for their transition to primary school.
We have managed to secure a partnership
with Tesco and are now part of their ‘FairShare
Scheme’ which allocates unsold but in date
goods to charitable causes – we are eligible for
Bakery and Fruit & Veg. We have also formed a
relationship with the Community Champion at
Tesco Amersham, who has a budget for
Charities and now supplies us with 100 pieces
of fruit every week for our snack table as well
as providing ingredients for cooking. We are
fortunate to have a very active Parents
Committee supporting the pre-school by raising
funds for extra activities such as our end of year
trip to Beale Park, Reading and our Sports Day
party in Ashley Drive Park with a bouncy castle.
