This is a flagship building providing
a contemporary, flexible new home
for Blackpool Council, which acts
an inspiring statement of intent.
The integration of the facades with
the energy strategy has resulted in
an outstanding building which sets
new standards for the town and will
benefit its regeneration.
Overall the £220m Talbot Gateway
CBD scheme will create new retail,
commercial and community space,
along with parking and transport
facilities.
The 126,000 sq ft office accommodation
will create contemporary office space
for the council and is designed to
meet high energy efficiency and
sustainability standards, targeting a
BREEAM Excellent rating.
The project’s aims for economic
sustainability are balanced by its
environmental credentials, ensuring
that it becomes a scheme that
reflects the principles of sustainability
in every sense. The 126,000 sq ft,
BCO compliant office building, has
achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating
and an EPC ‘A’ rating thanks to a
number of environmental and energy
saving features, including photovoltaic
panels, rainwater harvesting,
LED lighting, brise soleil and extensive
bicycle stores.
The building was awarded British
Council Offices (BCO) award 2015 and
Energy Efficient Building of the Year
2014.
This proposal forms part of the
overall redevelopment of the Talbot
Gateway area of Blackpool. The
proposed BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rated
