WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT YOUR CONDO
• When you get to your condo, no one should leave
for the rest of the night. If someone needs to take
evening medication, send them to the nurse’s station.
• Have the students take their luggage into the living
room. You will do a luggage search before they go
to their rooms. Then do a quick check to make sure
there isn’t any unreported damage to the condo. If
you see any damage, please make note of it on the
Beach Retreat App, to your HQ or on the form in
the back of this book. Make sure you note that the
damage was pre-existing.
SLEEP ARRANGEMENTS
• We plan for two students per king-sized bed, two for
a queen-sized bed, and two on a full-size sofa bed.
• Some students may want to sleep on the floor, and
that is fine if there is room.
• Please remember you must claim your bed first, and
you cannot share a bed with another student.
FIRST CONDO GROUP MEETING
• Give everyone their Beach Retreat Notebook and
backpack and have them write their names on it.
Take a few minutes and walk through the book so
they will see how to use it during the week.
• Remind the group that they must wear their
nametags and wristbands at all times. Stress that this
is non-negotiable and students found without them
will be sent back to their condos to get them.
• Turn to the Rules Section of the Notebooks. Walk
through the rules and highlight why obeying
the rules is easy and ensures a great week for
everyone. Keep this time positive, but be clear and
firm with the rules.
• Have the students look at the Silent Sounds section
of the Notebook. Briefly walk them through what
will happen tomorrow morning when they go to
Silent Sounds. Remind them to bring their Bible, their
Notebook and a pen in their backpacks, and a beach
towel if so desired. Let them know the material was
written just for them and will really help them see
Jesus in a whole new and exciting way! Remind
them that Silent Sounds is just that … it is supposed
to be “silent,” so they should not be talking with one
another while on the beach. They will know Silent
Sounds is over when they hear the bullhorn sound.
• Tell students you would like to connect one on one
with each of them this week. Let them know this is
one of the best parts of the week for you to get to
hear their story. Have them decide a time they will
meet with you for an hour during free time one day.
They can sign up on the interview sheet you will
receive Sunday morning. There is a copy of this on
page 83. Make sure you have an obvious place like
by the pool.
• Briefly discuss what needs to happen for the Condo
Group to have a great week. All of them must work
together to prepare breakfast and lunch each day, as
well as clean up afterward. You will receive a
clean-up chart where students may sign up to help
clean after a meal. An example is on page 86.
