YOUR CONDO GROUP
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFETY AND DISCIPLINE OF YOUR STUDENTS. YOU ARE MOM, DAD,
FRIEND AND MINISTER FOR THE WEEK. TAKE THIS RESPONSIBILITY VERY SERIOUSLY.
1. Learn your students’ names. Make each one feel
welcome and accepted.
2. Know where they are at all times. If there is an
emergency and we need to find your students
during free time, you need to know where to find
them.
3. Be sure your students are at all scheduled events on
time.
4. When the group arrives back at the condos each
night, curfew will be in effect. Be certain your
students understand that we are very serious
about this rule. Enforce curfew strictly. Do not send
students out after curfew!
5. Do not take it upon yourself to tell students to
break the rules. If students are caught out of their
room after curfew, they will lose free time. Do not
plan a party or “get together” with another condo
group after curfew. Do not take your group out
of your condominium after curfew for any reason
whatsoever.
6. Before you send the students to bed each evening,
have a time of prayer with the group. If possible,
pray briefly for each student.
7. Make sure everyone works hard during condo
clean-up time. You may want to list a schedule
of chores for the week. Each student can have a
different responsibility each day. No student may
leave for free time until all students have finished
their duties. A surprise inspection could come any
day...so be prepared!
8. We will provide your condo group with breakfast
foods, sandwich supplies, snacks and junk food
for the week. If you run out, we will provide you
with more. Use the “Food Re-Order” App or form to
order more food. A sample form is found in the back
of this Leader’s Guide. These forms will be in your
Sunday Morning Leader Packet or you can request
more from Headquarters.
9. These are first-class condominiums. Keep your
students (guys especially) in control. Rough
housing, raids or pranks are not allowed. That
applies to leaders, too! Students are responsible
for any damage caused to property, including
condominiums. Maintenance problems or damage
to a room should be reported immediately to
Headquarters in writing using a “Maintenance or
Damage Report” form. A sample form is found in the
back of this handbook. To avoid plumbing problems,
tell students to not use excessive amounts of toilet
paper at one time.
10. Buses will shuttle students to all off-site activities
during the week. Other vehicles from Headquarters
are not available for free time activities.
11. Unplug the TV for the week. This keeps students
from watching inappropriate shows and missing out
on time when they could be getting to know each
other better. At high school, you can turn the TV on
in the morning to watch the Good Morning, Beach
Retreat show each day!
12. There should be enough room in your condo for
everyone to sleep on a bed. If there is not enough
room for every student to have a bed, we will
have an air mattress available. If one student must
sleep on an air mattress on the floor, make sure the
students take turns sleeping on the floor each night.
One of the most important aspects of the retreat for you will be building
relationships with your condo group. Some condo groups will be made up of
students who already know each other. You probably won’t have a problem
getting to know them. But some groups may be “cliquish.” Don’t let that
discourage you. Work patiently at getting to know them. If they are “too cool”
and don’t seem interested in getting to know you, remain open to them.
