MONDAY: WHAT IS YOUR
ASSIGNMENT?
PRAY. It is always a great idea to open your condo time
with prayer. You can pray specifically for the walls in
students’ lives to be torn down and for God to move in
their hearts and lives.
After watching this morning’s video, remind students that
just like pastor Terry said, we are so excited they are here
with us at the beach. No matter what is going on in their
life or where they are, God has a plan and a purpose for
them being here this week.
NOW BEGIN BY OPENING UP THE DISCUSSION
TIME AND ASKING WHAT THEY THOUGHT OF
THE FILM.
This might be awkward at first as some students might not
be as comfortable with each other yet. Allow for some
awkward silence and give them a chance to build some
courage to share.
• Like Brian chose to accept his assignment from
Mr. Russell, and Peter chose to accept Jesus’
invitation to follow him, will you accept your
assignment?
Remind students that Mr. Russell wouldn’t allow Brian
to take the easy way out and text Callie, and Peter
would have to leave everything he had ever known
to follow Christ. Ask students if they are willing to
accept their assignment, and what that would really
look like in their life. This is a great place to take some
time and discuss what it practically looks like in their
everyday life.
• Like Brian had to get out of his comfort zone, and
Peter had to let go of his nets, what in their life
do they need to let go of?
Really encourage students to think practically in their
life. Maybe it is a group of friends they no longer
need to be part of? Maybe it is a habit they need to
change? Maybe it is a hobby that consumes them?
Write their responses below:
BIBLICAL TEXT USED TODAY IN THE FILM:
Matthew 4:18-22
Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He
saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and
Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they
were fishermen. And He said to them, “Follow Me, and
I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left
their nets and followed Him.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
PRAY. Always end each morning condo time in prayer.
• Why do you think Brian was daydreaming?
Answers may vary, but encourage students to think
that maybe he wasn’t happy with where his life
currently was. Maybe he wanted more? Do any of
your students relate with Brian?
• Like Mr. Russell challenged Brian, and Jesus
challenged Peter to follow him, who in your
life is challenging you with a greater purpose?
Be on the lookout for students who might not have
much of an answer because they don’t have anyone
challenging them. This is a great topic to discuss deeper
with each student in your one-on-one interview.
