DAY 1
• Set your alarm and wake up early enough to
make it to the beach before Silent Sounds starts.
Allow 15 minutes to walk down to the beach.
• Be on time for Silent Sounds. Remember “on time”
is early!
• Have breakfast and make sure everyone
participates in cleaning up.
• Wear your nametag everywhere. You will
always leave the condo as a group, so make
sure everyone has their nametags.
• Never give your key to a student. Lost keys are
$50 each at high school.
• Emphasize respect for the staff, property and
other guests at the condo.
• Remember that we are representing Christ
not only to our junior high and high school
students, but also to others at the condos.
SILENT SOUNDS
• Silent Sounds is a time for students and leaders to
be still before God and listen to His voice by reading
His Word. Each student and adult will receive a
Beach Retreat notebook that includes Silent Sounds
for each morning and evening session. During each
session, students and leaders will complete the
material for the corresponding day.
• Before leaving your condo, be sure each student has
the following: Beach Retreat notebook, a Bible, a pen
in their backpack, nametag and wristband.
• The Silent Sounds Captain (at the beach) will have
extra Bibles, notebooks and pens. Students are not
to share Bibles.
• Your entire condo is to arrive promptly each morning
and evening for Silent Sounds.
• Once you are at the beach, you will be directed to
an open area for your condo to spread out about six
feet apart from each other.
• Students may bring their own beach towels to sit on,
but they cannot bring a towel from the condominium
bathrooms or share.
• All leaders, directors and students will participate
in Silent Sounds. Please set a good example for
your students by being fully engaged during Silent
Sounds.
• Everyone is to remain seated until the siren is
sounded.
• If anyone needs to be corrected, do so quietly and
immediately.
• If you see students engaged in the following, get up
quietly and correct their behavior:
- Sitting too close to each other
- Sharing Bibles (Silent Sounds Captain has extra
Bibles)
- Sitting on or near sand dunes, beach vegetation,
sailboats, beach chairs or the beach wall
- Sand doodling or sand castle building
- Chasing crabs
- Laying down or laying on their sides—students and
leaders must sit up
- Throwing sand or beach debris
- Talking to other students
