Notes This trial was subdivided in<strong>to</strong> 4 groups in a 2 x 2 fac<strong>to</strong>rial design. It explored the<br />

hypothesis that CGA out-patient follow up was associated with a significantly improved<br />

outcome.<br />

The first subgroup of the trial evaluated Geriatric Evaluation and Management Clinic<br />

(GEMC) follow up post-discharge from inpatient care. This splitting of the data has<br />

been done <strong>to</strong> enable meta-analysis <strong>for</strong> the outpatient follow up subgroup.<br />

The second subgroup of the trial evaluated Usual Care Outpatient (UCOP) follow up<br />

following discharge from inpatient care<br />
