Methods Trial methods are described above under Nikolaus 1999 plus ESD. These are 2 separate<br />

arms of a trial comparing a CGA ward (’Nikolaus 1999 Ward’ with usual care and in<br />

a second arm of the trial a CGA ward with early supported discharge team support<br />

(’Nikolaus 1999 plus ESD’) with usual care.<br />
