views <strong>of</strong> our opponents; their manner <strong>of</strong> explaining<br />

Scripture is too carnal to satisfy the devoted child<br />

<strong>of</strong> God.<br />

“Then let me advise to a continual searching<br />

for truth, both for faith and practice; and, wherever<br />

we have wandered from the word <strong>of</strong> God, let us<br />

come back to the primitive simplicity <strong>of</strong> the gospel<br />

once delivered to the saints. Thus we shall be<br />

found ready at his coming to give an account <strong>of</strong> our<br />

stewardship, and hear our blessed Master say,<br />

‘Well done, thou good and faithful servant; enter<br />

thou into the joy <strong>of</strong> thy Lord.’ Every truth we get<br />

from the blessed book prepares us better for his<br />

coming and kingdom. Every error prevents us, in<br />

part, from being ready. Let us, then, stand strong in<br />

the faith, with our loins girt about with truth, and<br />

our lamps trimmed and burning, and waiting for<br />

our Lord, ready to enter the promised land, the true<br />

inheritance <strong>of</strong> the saints. This year the fullness <strong>of</strong><br />

time will come, the shout <strong>of</strong> victory will be heard<br />

in heaven, the triumphant return <strong>of</strong> our great<br />
