Rev. W. T. Hamilton, D.D., of Mobile, Ala., in
his “Lecture on Millerism,” said: “I freely admit,
that in his general outline of interpretation
(excluding his dates), following, as he does much
abler men who have gone before him, Mr. Miller is
correct. The several dynasties prefigured in the
great metallic image of Nebuchadnezzar -- in the
vision of the four beasts, and of the ram and hegoat
-- Daniel himself points out. Mistake there is
not easy.”[6]
Dr. Jarvis, D.D., LL.D., of Middletown, Ct., in
his “Two Discourses on Prophecy,” also applies
the fourth beast in the same manner.[7]
J. T. Hinton, A.M., of St. Louis (“Prophecies
Illustrated”), said:
“The dream of the image, the vision of the four
beasts, that of the ram and he-goat, and the
‘scriptures of truth,’ give us four detailed
descriptions of the history of the world, from the
time of Daniel to the ‘time of the end;’ and the
