Calgary AlphaHouse Society
About:
Following a Harm-Reduction Philosopy, AlphaHouse aims to provide support to those who struggle
with alcohol and substance abuse. AlphaHouse provides a shelter for those who are under the
influence where they are monitored by Addiction Workers. A detox unit is also available for those
who are looking to overcome their addiction in which Addiction Support Workers will monitor
their withdrawal and create short-term and long-term plans with the client in relation to their
addiction such as finding appropriate treatment centres. Here, medication is monitored and Opiate
Replacement Therapy is offered. The organization also has an Outreach Program where they work
with the community. Housing First is another component which aids in finding permanent homes
for the individuals if they are battling homelessness due to their addiction.
