All guest room doors must be equipped with Brand-approved<br />

electronic locks.<br />

All guest room entry doors must be equipped with an automatic<br />

door closer that fully closes and catches the door latch when<br />

released, per the requirements in the Brand Design and<br />

Construction Manual.<br />

Sliding glass doors to balconies or patios must have a safety<br />

instruction decal affixed to the inside pane of glass advising<br />

guests to utilise locking devices and not to leave children<br />

unattended on balconies.<br />

In-room safes, clean and in as-new condition, must be available<br />

for guest use.<br />

In-room safes must be large enough to contain a laptop and<br />

must be easy to use with clear instructions displayed in key<br />

market languages.<br />

In-room safes must be safely secured in the wardrobe.<br />

In addition, guest safes may be provided at Reception.<br />

A disclaimer notice approved by the Brand must be affixed to<br />

each safe.<br />

Safes may not have an electrical outlet.<br />

Restriction on hotel telephones<br />

To preserve guests’ privacy and avoid nuisance calls, all<br />

internal public House Telephones in the hotel, and to a certain<br />

extend most telephones used by Hotel Team Members who do<br />

not have the need to communicate with a guest directly in their<br />

room, must have a restriction set or activated at certain times,<br />

disallowing direct guest room dialling.<br />

If the house telephone does not automatically ring to the<br />

Operator, a notice must be posted at the house phone stating<br />

that guest rooms may not be dialled from that phone and<br />

providing instructions on how to reach the hotel Operator.<br />

Lost and found<br />

Lost and found articles must be dated, stored and maintained<br />

in a secure area in accordance with applicable law.<br />

Lost and found articles must be held for at least 90 days<br />

(or a longer period specified by applicable law).<br />

All found official documents (e.g. passports, identity cards, and<br />

transport card holders) must be immediately reported to the<br />

appropriate organisations (e.g. embassies, chancellery,<br />

transport office, local authorities).<br />

All found bank credit cards, travellers' checks and cash cards<br />

must be immediately reported to the appropriate branch or<br />

their international service number.<br />

All found valuable items (computers, jewels, cash, mobile<br />

telephones, cameras or similar) must be stored in a safe and<br />

must be labelled and cross-referenced to the entry in the found<br />

hotel register.<br />

The hotel must maintain records of lost and found articles and<br />

establish procedures to ensure a prompt, accurate response to<br />

guest enquiries concerning them.<br />

Regular, witnessed audits of the register and cupboard contents<br />

must be performed and recorded by the appropriate<br />

department.<br />

The Manager on Duty (MOD) must have access to the secured<br />

lost and found area 24-hours a day to provide items to guests.<br />

Information technology (IT)<br />

House telephones must allow calls to other hotel services such<br />

as the Restaurant.<br />

If the telecommunications system is not capable of restricting<br />

calls to guest rooms while allowing calls to hotel services, then<br />

house phones must restrict all direct dialling and automatically<br />

connect to the hotel Operator as soon as the handset is lifted.<br />

Information security<br />

The Hotel must ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability<br />

of the information assets developed by or entrusted to them.<br />

Information assets may include electronic and written<br />

information that is stored, transmitted, or maintained in any<br />

form. art’otel has established information security standards to<br />

ensure the protection of art’otel’s information assets. art’otel’s<br />

information security programme is aligned with international<br />

ISO security standards 27001 and 27002 and PCI DSS<br />

(Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards).<br />
