6.3 THE STRUCTURING ELEMENT
You can change the way the morphing routines transform an image by deÞning a
custom structuring element. A structuring element is a binary mask that deÞnes
which neighboring pixels are considered when performing a morphological function.
The previous examples have been executed using a standard structuring
element:
