To this manifesto, I add: Enough discussion of textual context without describing and<br />
analyzing place. Enough discussion about documentary as propaganda or ultimate lens-<br />
based truth, without discussing the role of dissemination and exhibition. It is time to<br />
discuss counterpublic spaces that are community-building d/e initiatives around<br />
documentary film, and not dismissible fringe resistance ‘flare-ups.’ To mobilize this<br />
discussion, I now turn to an abridged history of these issues in Canada.<br />
