at La Scala Milan and both the Konzerthaus<br />

Martineau, a disc of Schumann Lieder with<br />
Graham Johnson, Des Knaben Wunderhorn<br />
under Sir Simon Rattle, the title role in<br />

(La Bohème), Count Almaviva (Le nozze di<br />
Figaro), and, for <strong>Chandos</strong>, the title role in<br />

joined the Lyons Opera company where her<br />
roles included Nanetta (Falstaff ), Blondchen<br />
(L’Enlèvement au sérail ), Glauce (Cherubini’s<br />

Medea), and Rosina (Paisiello’s Barbiere). She<br />
has also appeared at the Aix-en-Provence<br />
Festival, notably in Lully’s Psyché‚ under Jean<br />
Claude Malgoire, and in Ariadne auf Naxos.<br />
She has appeared in many international<br />
festivals, including San Sebastian (Die<br />
Zauberflöte), Göttingen and Bath (in Leclair’s<br />
Scylla et Glaucus), at the Villa Medicis in Rome<br />
(Le Martyre de Saint Sébastien), and the Spoleto<br />
and Covent Garden Festivals. Her wide operatic<br />
repertoire embraces French Baroque opera,<br />
Gluck, Mozart and Strauss (both Johann and<br />
Richard). She is particularly noted for her<br />
exceptional portrayal of the Queen of the Night,<br />
which she has performed in Vienna, Nice,<br />
Athens, and at the Royal Opera House, Covent<br />
Garden. Other accomplishments include<br />
performances of Euridice (Orphée aux enfers) at<br />
the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Bruxelles, a debut<br />
at the Toronto Opera in the role of Constance<br />
(Dialogues des Carmélites), Olympia (The Tales of<br />
Hoffmann) and Oscar (Un ballo in maschera) in<br />
Santiago, and the title role in Lakmé at the<br />
Opéra Comique in Paris.<br />
Recordings include L’Enfant et les Sortilèges,<br />
Scylla and Glaucus, Dalayrac’s L’Amant statue, a<br />
recital disc of songs for voice, flute and piano,<br />
Massenet’s Thaïs, and for Opera Rara Mayr’s<br />
Ginevra di Scozia and Viardot’s Cendrillon.<br />
