11.7 Internet and Notes password synchronization
New for
Domino 6
You can synchronize a user’s Internet password stored in the Person record in
the Domino Directory with the user's Notes password. This means that users can
use the same password to log into a Domino server through the Notes client and
a Web browser. You can synchronize Notes and Internet passwords for
individual users during user registration, or you can enable Notes-Internet
password synchronization for multiple users on a server through the use of a
security settings policy document.
For more information on policies, see 11.1.5, “Policies and policy documents” on
page 438.
When a user changes their Notes password, the Internet password is eventually
changed, as well.
Important: Administrators should be aware that security-conscious users can
circumvent Notes/Internet password synchronization through the User
Security dialog box, and opt to use separate Notes and Internet passwords.
Ironically, this provides higher security and is ordinarily not a problem. For
more information on the User Security dialog box, see 11.14, “Notes client
security” on page 528.
