After the user authenticates, they will be logged into the portal and will see the<br />

corporate portal designed and configured by the <strong>Redbooks</strong>Co IT staff. Within this<br />

portal users have easy access to all of the collaborative capabilities deployed as<br />

part of this project, as well as their legacy locations, in one well-integrated<br />

interface.<br />

The single URL to access all corporate resources, whether they are connect via<br />

the Internet or private corporate LAN, is of great value to <strong>Redbooks</strong> employees.<br />

They know that anytime they need to access their corporate environment all they<br />

have to so is type in the URL to the corporate portal and log in. Once they log in<br />

to the portal, they have access to all of the corporate IT services in a secure<br />

manner, without additional login.<br />

13.6 Stage 5: Advanced collaborative tools<br />

<strong>Redbooks</strong>Co next begins looking at incorporating a training software system and<br />

Web-based mail system for the production staff that do not have regular access<br />

to computers. They choose the Lotus Workplace Messaging and Lotus Learning<br />

Management System capabilities to provide these services to the production<br />

staff. These capabilities plug directly into their existing environment and connect<br />

directly to their corporate directory for a seamless, secure solution. Users will<br />

maintain their same username and password for these new systems. This is<br />
