5.5.3 Warning Messages<br />

Warning messages inform you when completing the selected acti<strong>on</strong> may result in an irreversible<br />

change or loss of data.<br />

5.5.4 Error Messages<br />

Error messages inform you when a system or procedural error has occurred. Examples of<br />

possible errors include a disc<strong>on</strong>nected cable, a poor c<strong>on</strong>necti<strong>on</strong>, or some other mechanical failure<br />

that prevents the tool from communicating with the vehicle.<br />

5.6 Stopping Vehicle Communicati<strong>on</strong><br />

Disc<strong>on</strong>necting the <str<strong>on</strong>g>MICROSCAN</str<strong>on</strong>g> unit from the data link c<strong>on</strong>nector (DLC) while it is actively<br />

communicating with the vehicle may cause electr<strong>on</strong>ic c<strong>on</strong>trol module (ECM) damage <strong>on</strong> some<br />

models. Always follow the procedure below while viewing live data to end the diagnostic sessi<strong>on</strong><br />

before separating the data cable from the DLC.<br />

z To stop communicati<strong>on</strong>s and disc<strong>on</strong>nect from the vehicle:<br />

1. Press the N butt<strong>on</strong> from any data screen.<br />

The Exit menu opens.<br />

2. Scroll to highlight the Exit ic<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> the menu.<br />

3. Press Y to select exit.<br />

The display returns to the Global OBD2/EOBD menu.<br />

4. Press N <strong>on</strong>ce again to open the Exit menu.<br />

5. Again, highlight the Exit ic<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> the menu.<br />

6. Press Y to select exit.<br />

A “stop communicati<strong>on</strong>s” message momentarily displays followed by the Main menu. The<br />

message indicates that the electr<strong>on</strong>ic c<strong>on</strong>necti<strong>on</strong> between the <str<strong>on</strong>g>MICROSCAN</str<strong>on</strong>g> unit and the<br />

ECM has been terminated. To verify, open the Exit menu. The Exit ic<strong>on</strong> should no l<strong>on</strong>ger be<br />

available as a menu opti<strong>on</strong>.<br />

7. From the Main menu, press the Power butt<strong>on</strong> to shut down the <str<strong>on</strong>g>MICROSCAN</str<strong>on</strong>g> unit.<br />

8. Disc<strong>on</strong>nect the data cable from the vehicle DLC.<br />
