Program Objectives: VSU offers a curriculum and production season so that graduates are<br />
prepared to enter the industry. Students have the opportunity to become the artists they aspire<br />
to be.<br />
History: Valdosta State University is accredited by the National Association of Schools of<br />
Theatre. Located just above the Florida state line on I-75, VSU Theatre & Dance offers students<br />
the opportunities and educational experiences to become the artists they aspire to be.<br />
Valdosta State University produces Peach State Summer Theatre, Georgia's Official Musical<br />
Theatre.<br />
Facilities, Classrooms, and Theatres: VSU Theatre & Dance has 2 performance venues (an<br />
intimate proscenium theatre and a black box theatre) with scene shop and costume shop in the<br />
same facility; 2 dance studios, traditional classrooms and computer lab/classrooms. Plans are<br />
underway for a new performing arts facility.<br />
Scholarships and/or Assistantships: Incentive Scholarships for Theatre & Dance are<br />
available for incoming and continuing Theatre & Dance majors upon audition/interview. The<br />
scholarships are potentially renewable upon audition/interview. Theatre & Dance scholarships<br />
do not impact students who may receive other scholarship awards from the institution.<br />
