Program Objectives: Theatre at FGCU is committed to train and educate future technicians,<br />
artists, teachers and creative industry leaders.<br />
History: Florida Gulf Coast University opened in 1997, and is accredited by the Southern<br />
Association of <strong>College</strong>s and Schools Commission on <strong>College</strong>s. The theatre department was<br />
established in 1998, and offers the Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with an emphasis in acting or<br />
technical theatre and a Theatre Minor. A low student/faculty ratio promotes personalized<br />
attention and creative industries of the now, and of the future.<br />
Facilities, Classrooms, and Theatres: Black box theatre (seating capacity of 120),<br />
State-of-the-art television and radio facility for voiceover and on-camera courses, Flexible-space<br />
classroom dance studio<br />
Scholarships and/or Assistantships: Competitive four-year scholarships for FTIC students,<br />
and one-year retention scholarships for students who have demonstrated outstanding<br />
scholarship and service.<br />
