Program Objectives: To train our students to be successful professional actors in all every
variety of media - from Film, Television, Theatre, Voiceovers, and beyond.
History: Eckerd College’s Theatre Discipline has been in Saint Petersburg, Florida for over 50
years, offering a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Recently, we partnered with Circle in the Square
Conservatory in New York City, the only conservatory program housed in a working Broadway
theatre. This unique 2 + 2 program offers the best of both worlds, two years at a small liberal
arts college on a beautiful campus right next the most amazing beaches in the country, and then
a second two years right in the heart of Manhattan, training in a hands on manner with working
professionals in all aspects of show business.
Facilities, Classrooms, and Theatres: Eckerd College has three spaces - one MainStage
Theatre that seats 324, a flexible Black Box Theatre that can seat from 50-100, and a movie
theatre that seats 300 students. Classes take place in all three of these spaces.
Circle in the Square has several classrooms right under its Broadway theatre, as well as access
to the MainStage for shows and industry showcases.
Scholarships and/or Assistantships: There are numerous scholarships available at Eckerd
College, as well as an Artistic Achievement Award that is given for two years in a row to
qualified candidates. In addition, there are grants and tuition discounts available for qualified
students.
Circle in the Square has Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion awards, and will work with students on
tuition discounts.
