History: The University of North Carolina School of the Arts is a top-ranked creative and<br />
performing arts conservatory in Winston-Salem, N.C. America’s first public arts conservatory,<br />
UNCSA is comprised of 5 stand-alone conservatories: Dance, Drama, Design & Production,<br />
Filmmaking, and Music. Each conservatory provides gifted emerging artists with the<br />
experience, knowledge, and skills needed to excel in their disciplines and in their lives.<br />
UNCSA's rankings include #4 Best Drama School in the World, #1 Best <strong>College</strong> for Aspiring<br />
Choreographers, #10 Top Film School, Top 10 Costume Design Schools in the U.S.<br />
Facilities, Classrooms, and Theatres: State of the art theatre technology shops totaling more<br />
than 100,000 square feet guarantee a profoundly creative, hands-on immersion in the<br />
behind-the-scenes magic of live theatre. State of the art filmmaking studios & equipment for<br />
hands-on, fully immersive learning. Students collaborate on original short films that ultimately<br />
are submitted to festivals around the world. The Acting program includes on-camera training<br />
during all four years of enrollment. In the final year, graduating actors perform in<br />
industry-attended showcases. 5 stages for Drama and Dance school performances. 3 recital<br />
halls for Music school recitals and concerts. New dormitories for undergraduate students.<br />
Scholarships and/or Assistantships: A full range of financial aid programs and services. The<br />
goal is to help each student attend UNCSA in spite of financial limitations. All students are<br />
considered for merit-based scholarships. FAFSA accepted and need-based scholarships are<br />
also available.<br />
