Here We Grow Again!
By: Dan Roberts / Roberts Rules
Originally, I was going to write about
how our Vegas Voice TV studio (and
“international” office) was taking shape. I was
even going to make a shameless plug for readers to check out our just
unveiled video website: vegasvoicetv.com while announcing our new
media venture: podcasting.
The attached photo taken at
our latest Vegas Voice “power
meeting” (after we hid the
coffee and doughnuts) was to
demonstrate that while we have
no idea what we’re doing, we’re
sure having fun doing it.
But then at the conclusion of
our Vegas Voice show at Sun City
MacDonald Ranch last month,
something remarkable occurred
as the audience was leaving. And
for yours truly, it was, and will remain one of the most unforgettable
moments of my life.
There was our entertainment editor Evan Davis being thanked by
people for putting this show (and all his shows) together. Something
about great, affordable entertainment for we seniors.
Then there was my “Bronx brother” Vegas Voice Executive Director
Bill Caserta being approached by a couple happily commenting on
his Bill Blurb’s articles and videos. The guy even asked him “if he
heard this one.” Jokes and laughter soon followed.
And then not 3 feet away was someone speaking with my Rana.
The individual had a guardianship/senior abuse concern and when
my Ladylove listened and responded, a few people gathered around to
thank her for her advocacy efforts.
And last but not least, as I was rushing Rana to “let’s go, let’s go”
a couple approached me to let me know how much they are looking
forward to our Vegas Voyagers Phat Pack cruise. When they said “see
you next week” I was thereafter introduced to a woman who most
sincerely thanked me for my “Last Word” non-partisan political
videos and for The Vegas Voice
magazine every month.
All of the above occurred
simultaneously and within
seconds.
Now don’t get me wrong. As my
PILL (partner in love & life) can
attest, I’m not the sentimental
type and I know such kind and
gracious words of support and
thanks doesn’t pay the bills (or
even a gallon of gas).
But it sure made me proud of what The Vegas Voice (and our
“dysfunctional” family) has accomplished over the years.
And we really do have ideas and plans to back up our claim of being
“Nevada’s most powerful senior media resource.” Stay tuned and from
this most humble publisher – thank you.
How Much???
Publisher Dan’s niece Pamela Haft reacts to the price of gas while
attending her cousin’s wedding in Palm Springs, California last month.
Gas was $5.69 a gallon! Luckily her favorite uncle had his credit
card handy.
And see our Down the Road columnist BJ Killeen’s article (page 36)
on a few simple tips that can help alleviate the pain at the pump.
