6 Marry Me By: Renee Riendeau / Movie Revelations This romantic comedy fairy tale pulls at your heartstrings. It features Jennifer Lopez as Kat (singer, songwriter, performer) Owen Wilson, a divorced math teacher raising a 12 year old daughter Lou, (Chole Culman) and introducing, (Bastian) a sexy superstar male singer. Kat was going to marry at one of their superstar concerts until she found out her husband-to-be was having an affair just before the wedding ceremony, with her assistant no less. Kat has a meltdown, standing while wearing her wedding gown, on stage in front of the audience. Thoughts of love, truth, and loyalty flashed through her mind as she focused on an unassuming man in the audience. He was surrounded by best friend (Sarah Silverman) and his daughter. Kat and the stranger locked eyes as she whispered, “Marry me.” After much coaxing from the audience and stage crew, Charlie stumbled on stage and the ceremony began. Even though this fairytale was sustained by sincerity, the question remains: can they find common ground and true romance in this marriage? If you sit through the rest of the movie, you’ll find out! Jennifer Lopez, as always, is stunning in her outfits, singing, music, movements, dancing, and her top of the line sky view condo. Owen grew into his character and by the end of the movie became endearing. A special scene was when Kat unexpectedly dropped by Charlie’s math class and taught the class how to remember math formulas with dance steps. Everyone got into the dance routine. The music in “Marry Me” is quite catchy and viewers could be heard clapping their hands and tapping their toes. If you’re looking for a movie to watch with family, friends, or a lover, this is it. I rate “Marry Me” a 3+ out of 5 and think you will too. Enjoy the movie! Renee Riendeau is the movie reviewer for The Vegas Voice. April 2022 You Gotta Laugh By: Bill Caserta / Bill’s Blurbs Top Ten Things I’m Good At 1. Forgetting someone’s name 30 seconds after they tell me. 2. Running…Late, that is. 3. Making plans…the regretting making plans. 4. Thinking of a great comeback…an hour later. 5. Digging through the trash for the food box I just tossed because I already forgot the directions. 6. Adding items to online carts, then deleting. 7. Googling my ailments, then panicking. 8. Leaving laundry to wrinkle in the dryer. 9. Forgetting why I walked into the room. 10. Calculating how much sleep I’ll get if I can just “fall asleep right now.” My Philosophy 1. I’ve reached the age where my train of thought often leaves the station without me. 2. The truth always comes out as the Tequila goes in. 3. You never realize how anti-social you are until there is a pandemic and your life doesn’t really change that much. 4. As you get older, you’ve got to stay positive. For example, the other day I fell down the stairs. Instead of getting upset, I just thought, “Wow, that’s the fastest I’ve moved in years!” 5. As I’ve grown older, I’ve learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake. 6. Exercise makes you look better naked. So does wine of your choice. 7. I enjoy a glass of wine each night for its health benefits. The other glasses are for my witty comeback’s and flawless dance moves! 8. It’s strange how drinking eight glasses of water a day seems impossible. But 8 cups of coffee goes down like a chubby kid on a seesaw! 9. I have put a lot of thought into it, and I just don’t think being an adult is gonna work for me! And finally: A truck loaded with Vicks Vapor Rub overturned on the I-15 last month. Amazingly there was no congestion for eight hours. Bill Caserta is the Executive Director of The Vegas Voice and is the long lost (but now found) Bronx brother of the publisher.
