Original Justice and
God’s Friendship
Directions: Read about Original Sin and answer the questions.

The Book of Genesis tells the story
of the first man and woman —
Adam and Eve. They disobeyed
God and sinned. A sin is
something that we say, do,
think, or fail to do that does
not love God, our neighbor, or
ourselves, as God has taught us.
Because Adam and Eve disobeyed
God, they failed to love Him. They
were no longer in perfect friendship with
Him. They lost the grace of Original Justice.
The first sin of Adam and Eve was not just a sin for
them. It wounded all people born after them. It made
us weak and more likely to sin. We call this wounded
nature Original Sin. We are all born with Original Sin.
The effect of Original Sin that makes us more likely to
sin is called concupiscence.
