HEALTH & BEAUTY
Warm winter hair
with Chris Moody of Moodyhair
How does a silky hot chocolate
and glowing fire sound right
about now? A perfect combo
for cold weather, and they just
so happen to be the hottest
hair colour trends for this
winter season.
Rich, chocolate browns are proving to be
the most popular requested colour as we move
through the holiday season. Ideally suited to
people who have naturally dark brown to dark
blonde hair, this palate can be gently adjusted to
suit most skin tones and complements almost
every winter wardrobe. The depth of colour really
adds volume to hair and reflects an abundance of
light to really make that hair shine.
For people who have naturally lighter, medium
to light blondes, then radiating, gentle copper
tones are the way to go. These vibrant tones will
enhance and compliment fairer skin tones, add
variation to hair, and still reflect light to enhance
shine and lustre.
Both these colour trends are very easy to
achieve in most cases. They are quick to apply
and very low maintenance. But best of all,
because they’re usually what we call a singleprocess
colour, they are very cost effective, often
much cheaper than the popular highlighting
and balayage methods that have dominated the
summer months.
In most cases, the hair colour is going slightly
darker, so it reduces the need for stronger
chemicals such as ammonia or high level
peroxides. This means that the colour fades gently
over time, allowing hair to remain much healthier
and, as long as the colour is not extreme, root regrowth
is barely visible.
We strongly recommend that you have these
colour changes done in a professional salon,
where the right colour tones of chocolate or
copper can be individually formulated for your
own hair type. Book a consultation with your salon
stylist and have them professionally assess your
hair and suitability.
Talk to your stylist about demi-permenant colour.
This is a type of colour that sits between the longer
lasting permanent colour and short-term semipermanent
colour. Demis are great for adding rich
colour and tone, covering the first signs of greying
and keeping hair shiny. Their only limitation is that
they can’t lighten the hair. Stick to our guide as to
whether you should be chocolate or copper and
you’ll be fine.
At Moodyhair our go to solution for demipermenant
colour is called Shades EQ. It’s the
world’s number one selling colour product and is
super glossy and gently on the hair.
You can access “Chocolate Brown” and “Warm
Copper” box colours on the High Street, but you
won’t get that individual formulation you get in the
salon. Besides, this is one of the cheaper salon
colour options and this difference in price is not
worth the hassle if it doesn’t work out.
So, whatever the weather you can be sure you’ll
have beautiful, rich, winter warm hair.
