Foreman, Robert Low (Bobby)<br />

Bobby was born on December 21, 1920 in Brock, Saskatchewan. When he<br />

was fifteen, his family moved to Beaver Pass where they operated a general<br />

store. In August 1942, Bobby enlisted in the Seaforth Highlanders of<br />

Canada in Vancouver. He served for one year in England before going to<br />

Africa and then Italy where he was wounded three times before being killed<br />

in action on February 24, 1945. Bobby is buried in the Assisi War Cemetery<br />

in Rivotorto, Italy. Mount Foreman, 36 kilometers east of Barkerville, <strong>BC</strong><br />

in Bowron Lake Provincial Park is named in his honour.<br />

BRITISH COLUMBIA / YUKON COMMAND<br />

Fontaine, Joseph Raymond Ernest<br />

Raymond was born in Ponteix, Saskatchewan on August 15, 1925 and<br />

passed away on March 1, <strong>2011</strong> in Mesa, Arizona. In 1942, when he was<br />

seventeen, he enlisted in the Canadian Army in Vancouver, <strong>BC</strong> and served<br />

overseas until 1946, first in the Artillery and then in the Canada Scottish<br />

Regiment. Raymond was awarded the Defence Medal, the France and<br />

Germany Star, the 1939-1945 Star, and The Canadian Volunteer Service<br />

Medal. While in the army, he boxed with the Golden Gloves. After the war,<br />

Raymond worked as a logger for over twenty years as a Cat Skinner with<br />

MacMillan Bloedel until he retired in 1990.<br />

Fraga, Edunio<br />

Edunio was born in Horta Falls, Azores in 1934. He served in the<br />

Portuguese Army and after immigrating to Canada served as a Corporal with<br />

the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Korea. Edunio has been a<br />

member of Smoky Smith <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #16 for sixteen years.<br />
