Hill, Milton Lynn<br />

Milton was born in Quesnel, <strong>BC</strong> in 1924. After graduating from the local<br />

high school, he attended Vancouver College and took a business course at<br />

Sprott-Shaw Business School in Vancouver. He enlisted in the Royal<br />

Canadian Air Force in October 1941 and trained in Vancouver as a Wireless<br />

Air Gunner. He was sent to Scotland with the rank of Sergeant to fly<br />

Sunderlands out of Inverness, Scotland with the Royal Air Force Coastal<br />

Command. Milton was killed in action when his damaged plane crashed on<br />

November 26, 1944. He is buried in Harrogate (Stonefall) Cemetery in<br />

Yorkshire, England, a Commonwealth War Graves Commission burial site<br />

for the dead in WWI and WWII.<br />

BRITISH COLUMBIA / YUKON COMMAND<br />

Hess, Fred<br />

Fred enlisted in the Navy on March 1, 1943 at HMCS Naden. He served as<br />

an able-bodied seaman, operating radar on HMCS Fennel on North Atlantic<br />

convoy duties. He was discharged on November 21, 1945. Fred is a member<br />

of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #24 in Cranbrook, <strong>BC</strong>.<br />

Himes, Kenneth Albert (Ken)<br />

Ken was born in Fort William, Ontario in 1932. He served with the Royal<br />

Canadian Regiment in Korea between 1950 and 1954. He was awarded the<br />

Korea Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service medal for Korea, and the<br />

United Nations Service Medal (Korea). Ken has been a member of Prince<br />

Edward <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #91 in Langford for seventeen years.<br />
